According to a recent video posted on their social media platform X, the World Food Programme distributes food aid daily to more than 700,000 girls and boys in Afghanistan to help them stay active and continue learning.

This organization emphasizes that the food assistance provided to schoolchildren helps them remain active and learn better.

Since the Taliban took power in Afghanistan, restrictions on girls’ education beyond the sixth grade have intensified. Reports indicate a dire humanitarian crisis, with increased poverty and heightened restrictions on girls’ education contributing to a rise in forced and underage marriages.

Humanitarian organizations like the World Food Programme have previously announced that aid should be distributed to over 700,000 girls and boys in Afghanistan, stressing that no hungry child should be kept out of school.

Mona Sheikh, head of nutrition for the World Food Programme in Afghanistan, stated that this year alone, they can only treat around 1.6 million malnourished children in the country.

The United Nations and humanitarian agencies have consistently warned about the escalating humanitarian crisis and malnutrition in Afghanistan, especially among children.

According to the organization’s statistics, approximately three million children in Afghanistan suffer from malnutrition.
