AKIPRESS.COM – 50 people died and 36 were injured due to floods caused by heavy rains in Afghanistan in four days, ToloNews reports, citing the State Ministry for Disaster Management Affairs.

As a result of the recent rains and floods, we have lost 50 compatriots and another 36 have been injured. In total, 706 homes have been destroyed, approximately 400 livestock have perished, and 1,606 homes have also been damaged by these floods,” spokesperson for the State Ministry for Disaster Management Affairs Janan Saiq said.

Most deaths were caused by roof collapses.

The floods have affected the provinces of Badghis, Uruzgan, Farah, Paktia, Zabul, Helmand, Kunar, Kabul, Badakhshan, Ghor, Kandahar, Takhar, and Parwan.

According to the local meteorological agency, heavy rains are expected in most of Afghanistan’s 34 provinces in the coming days. The heaviest rains will fall in the provinces of Ghazni, Kabul, Kandahar and Nangarhar.
