LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – A newly opened alteration shop is catering towards the Afghan community in the Capital City.

Alsa Sura focuses on altering traditional Afghan clothing, but also tailors for other formal events like weddings and proms. The shop also sells formal Afghan clothing and everyday wear.

Samira Mahboub, the owner, is a biochemistry research technician for UNL and sees Alsa Sura as her passion project.

“I graduated from UNL, I went to Phoenix online, did my masters through Phoenix,” says Mahboub, “but I have this passion for sewing, and it also calms me down, it’s so calming.”

Samira has previously worked at several bridal shops and is excited to bring a new shop to Lincoln.

Alsa Sura is located near 31st and O streets and is open seven days a week.
